Fans Are Saying the Same Thing About Caitlin Clark's Boyfriend After Big News

Being that Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark has become one of the most popular athletes on the planet, it only follows that her boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, has also gained a certain level of fame -- on a much smaller scale, of course.

A lot of Clark fans have paid attention to McCaffery's own career, who in his own right, is climbing the coaching ranks in basketball. At the moment, the 26-year-old serves as an assistant coach for the Indiana Pacers, but according to reports, McCaffery now has plans to leave his post.

Akeem Glaspie of the Indy Star reported on Thursday, September 12, that former NBA first-overall pick Greg Oden has announced his intention to resign from his role as an assistant coach for the Butler men's basketball team. The same report also indicated that McCaffery will be taking Oden's place.

It is worth noting that if and when McCaffery joins the Bulldogs coaching staff, he will be reunited with his younger brother Patrick, who recently transferred from Iowa to Butler. It has also been confirmed that their younger brother Jack has already committed to Butler and will be joining the squad in 2025.

A fair amount of fans on X, formerly Twitter, have taken notice of this imminent family reunion and have made their feelings about it known.

"The McCafferys were a packaged deal evidently. Whens Fran going there to be HC?" asked a user referencing Fran McCaffery, the father of the three McCaffery boys and the current coach of the Iowa Hawkeyes men's basketball team.

"As an Iowa fan, thank god we’re not the team who has three Mccafreys on one team, again," a comment read.

"A chance to yell at his brothers…" said a reader.

"McCaffreys keep the circle tight," observed another.

"Butler basketball. It’s a family business. This is cool. Conner, Pat and Jack," a fan commented.

To be clear, Butler has not yet made an official announcement about Oden's departure and Connor McCaffery's arrival. However, it appears that it's only going to be a matter of time before the news becomes official.

As for Caitlin Clark, the good news for her is that Connor's move won't require them to enter a long-distance relationship. McCaffery, who himself represented the Iowa Hawkeyes for six seasons between 2017 and 2023, will remain in Indianapolis if and when he joins the Butler coaching staff.

The University is located on Sunset Avenue in Indianapolis, which, incidentally, is just a 15-minute drive from the Gainbridge Fieldhouse where the Fever practice and play their home games.
