NFL legend and seven-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady is trending online Thursday night, September 12, after Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered a concussion during their game against the Buffalo Bills on Thursday Night Football.

The injury occurred in the third quarter when Tagovailoa, scrambling to extend a play, made contact with Bills safety Damar Hamlin's chest. After the hit, Tagovailoa appeared unsteady and had difficulty standing.

He was eventually escorted off the field after completing 17-of-25 passes for 145 yards, including one touchdown but also throwing three interceptions.

Fans quickly turned to social media, suggesting Brady should come out of retirement to play for Miami.

"Tom Brady to the Miami Dolphins… heard it here first Watch," said one fan.

"Dolphins should make that phone call to Tom Brady," said another.

Brady’s potential move to the Dolphins was a hot topic during the 2022 offseason. The plan, though never fully realized, involved pairing Brady with former New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton.

The idea was for Brady to retire from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, assume an executive role with Miami, and eventually transition back into playing. However, tampering allegations led to an NFL investigation, and the Dolphins were penalized.

Tom Brady is ineligible to return to the NFL as a player due to his pending minority ownership stake in the Las Vegas Raiders.

Even if Brady were interested, NFL regulations prohibit players from holding ownership stakes while still active. Brady is currently in the process of securing a minority stake in the Las Vegas Raiders, which effectively rules out any potential return as a player.

While fans may dream of seeing Brady in a Dolphins uniform, it seems the team will have to look elsewhere if Tagovailoa’s injury sidelines him.
