SEPT 12 PRAYERS FOR TUA Miami quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was ruled out of Thursday's 31-10 loss to the Bills after sustaining a hit to the head on a scramble in the third quarter. ... and it is yet another concussion for the 26-year-old, who some think should now end his football career for his own good.

That is an issue for Tua and maybe for another day. More immediately? Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is handling it just right, posted a "prayers up'' message on social media to send the message that he is thinking of the Miami quarterback right now.

SEPT 7 NOPE Did the Baltimore Ravens opened the 2024 NFL season with a 27-20 loss to the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs because they underused their new vet running back Derrick Henry?

That's the assertion being made by some. And it's wrong.

In his debut with his new team, Henry ran 13 times for 46 yards and a touchdown. ... but his work largely came early. Should the Ravens have used him in the late-going? Why? QB Lamar Jackson didn't need a running back ... he needed more accuracy in his clutch-time throws - and one more inch of end zone - as the Ravens ended up losing when Isaiah Likely caught the ball in the back of the end zone as time expired but his toe landed just out of bounds, meaning the pass (first ruled a TD) was incomplete.

SEPT 7 BOYCOTT? Before the Week 1 kickoff between the Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday night, Grammy Award winner Tasha Cobbs took the stage at Arrowhead to perform "Lift Every Voice and Sing" ... the song has been considered the "Black National Anthem."

And not everybody is a fan of the concept, to the point that some fans have taken to social media and suggested the NFL be "boycotted'' in protest.

That is, of course, your right and their right. At the same time, the numbers are in.

Chiefs Win Over Ravens Most-Watched Opener Ever!

The Chiefs vs. Ravens game had an average audience of 28.9 million viewers, as NBC announced that it now ranks as the most-watched NFL season-opening game ever.

So ... it doesn't seem like too many folks "boycotted'' America's favorite pastime over a song. Maybe fans will skip next year's opener?

AUGUST 29 - CUT— While Tuesday's 4 p.m. roster cutdown deadline has passed, NFL teams are still not done making moves. Player acquisition will continue throughout the season as teams deem necessary.

The Kansas City Chiefs are a recent example of this, as they made a change following the announcement of their initial 53-man roster. After successfully claiming former Dallas Cowboys cornerback Eric Scott Jr. off the waiver wire, the Chiefs released fellow defensive back Nic Jones.

Jones, the former 2023 seventh-round pick out of Ball State, has ended his time in Kansas City after just one season. Jones played in just nine games as a rookie, totaling four tackles, one for a loss, and one quarterback hit.
