Any football is good football, but it's fair to say the Week 3 slate around college football leaves something to be desired.

There are only two matchups between ranked teams (one of which is on Friday) and just 11 matchups between two power-conference teams or Notre Dame. The week is a popular one for byes and non-conference battles against Group of 5 or FCS opponents, which the Fighting Irish can tell you still brings the potential for drama.

Two traditional late-November rivalries take place this week due to the realignment. Washington will face former conference rival Washington State, while Oregon takes on Oregon State in another battle of 2-0 teams. The timing has changed, but the emotions of the matchup haven't.

The only ranked-on-ranked matchup of Saturday's slate features No. 24 Boston College traveling to take on No. 6 Missouri. The Tigers are hefty favorites, but the return of Boston College to the national spotlight is a testament to the work coach Bill O'Brien has already done in Chestnut Hill. Could another upset be on tap?

ESPN's "College GameDay" isn't going to any of those games. Here's what you need to know about the show's location and guest picker in Week 3.

Where is 'College GameDay' location for Week 3?

    • Location : Columbia, South Carolina
    • Time : 9 a.m. ET to noon
    • Matchup : No. 16 LSU vs. South Carolina

"College GameDay" will be held in Columbia, S.C. ahead of the Gamecocks' matchup with No. 16 LSU.

It's the eighth time South Carolina has hosted the show and the first time since 2014. The Gamecocks last hosted "College GameDay" before a matchup with Missouri, but they suffered an upset at the hands of unranked Missouri.

South Carolina is 3-4 all-time when hosting "College GameDay," though that record includes an upset of No. 1 Alabama in 2010. A win over LSU wouldn't bring that level of shock, but it would be an upset. The Tigers are moderate road favorites against a Gamecocks team that didn't enter 2024 with sky-high expectations but dominated favored Kentucky on the road in Week 2.

Looking for a resurgence after a 5-7 season in 2023, South Carolina fans will be out in full force around the "GameDay" set on Saturday as they look to will their team to a second consecutive upset win.

Who is the guest picker on 'College GameDay' for Week 3?

South Carolina women's basketball coach Dawn Staley will be the "College GameDay" guest picker in Week 3.

It's hard to find a better option than Staley in Columbia, as she is a three-time national champion and has lost just one game in the last two seasons. Staley has emerged as one of the biggest names in college sports, let alone college basketball, and she's overseeing a Gamecocks dynasty that has shown no signs of waning.

Staley is the first guest picker associated with college basketball since Sabrina Ionescu in 2022.
