Dolphins Urged to Bring Back $118 Million QB After Tua Tagovailoa Concussion

The Miami Dolphins will likely need help at quarterback after Tua Tagovailoa suffered a concussion against the Buffalo Bills, with some suggesting a familiar face could return to lead the team.

Tagovailoa was hurt during a third-quarter run in Thursday's 31-10 loss, scrambling for a first down before diving forward and colliding with Bills safety Damar Hamlin. Tagovailoa fell hard to the turf and was tended to by the team's medical staff before being taken to the locker room.

The Dolphins quarterback was diagnosed with a concussion, the third in the last three NFL seasons. With the prospect that Tagovailoa could miss significant time, former Dolphins starter Ryan Tannehill has been floated as a top fit.

Tannehill is still a free agent after the conclusion of his four-year, $118-million contract with the Tennessee Titans. If the Dolphins were to hit the market for a quarterback, many suggested Tannehill would be the first call.

"Ryan Tannehill is the best free agent QB available," noted reporter Andrew Siciliano in a post on X shortly after Tagovailoa's injury.

"There is nothing I'd like to see more than Ryan Tannehill return to the Dolphins without Adam Gase and make a run to the playoffs," another added on X.

The Dolphins could also stay with Skylar Thompson, who finished Thursday's game in relief of the injured Tagovailoa. Thompson also started two games in the 2022 season while Tagovailoa was out with a concussion.
