Cincinnati vs Miami University Prediction, Game Preview, and Betting Lines

    By Pete Fiutak,

These two put on a thriller last season.

The battle for the Victory Bell went to Miami University in a 31-24 battle that launched its amazing season. It also showed just how far Cincinnati had to go in the rebuild in the post-Luke Fickell era.

The RedHawks are as good as anyone in the MAC, and they’ll get their shot to get past the 13-6 defensive slugfest loss to Northwestern with this rivalry battle and then Notre Dame next week.

Cincinnati lost a 28-27 fight to Pitt last week, and next week it starts up Big 12 play against Houston.

    Why Cincinnati Will Win

It was a loss, but the Bearcats looked fine against Pitt.

QB Brendan Sorsby has thrown five touchdown passes without a pick, the attack tuned up with 658 yards against Towson, and the team should have control in this throughout.

Miami University might have the talent, and it might be rested, but it has to prove it can get the O go.

There wasn’t anything on the ground in the loss to Northwestern, Brett Gabbert and the passing attack couldn’t make up for it, and …

    Why Miami University Will Win

That was one game in a strange setting with lots of wind against a jacked up Wildcat defense - the RedHawks put up a big fight.

The same things that made MU such a big deal coming into the season still matter. The defense is fantastic, Gabbert and the passing game will be crisper, and the ground game will show up at some point.

So far in two games Cincinnati’s defense hasn’t been anything great against the run, the secondary has been hit for 546 passing yards in the two games, and the MU offense should wake up and do well against it all.

Cincinnati vs Miami University: Who Will Win

It’ll come down to the final moments.

Neither team will be all that sharp, and neither side will be able to take advantage of all their chances. On the road, the Bearcats will be able to grind out a late drive for a score, and the other side will hold on for dear life to get out with the Bell.
