Target Is Selling a 'Cute' $30 Slouchy Crescent Sling Handbag Similar to Madewell and Anthropologie Styles Almost 4x the Price

Handbags that can hold a fair amount while also complement your style are amazing finds. And Target has been churning out some purses and bags that check both of these boxes while also looking like designer copycats for a fraction of the price. Who doesn’t want to sport a bag that looks like it came from a luxury brand without even spending $40? One of Target’s newest slouchy sling handbags is just the latest that shoppers are obsessed with and it looks like bags from Madewell and Anthropologie that are almost four times the price.

We’re talking about Target’s Slouchy Crescent Sling Handbag by their in-house brand, Universal Thread. The bag is currently $30 and still considered new on Target’s website. It lives up to its name because it’s shaped like a crescent moon with a thick middle that comes together at the ends and has a connected strap. It’s unstructured, which is where the “slouchy” part of its name comes from, and it has a faux suede finish. There is one main compartment that’s zippered (with a longer zipper tab), though it does have an interior zipped pocket too. There are no exterior pockets.

This bag’s strap is adjustable like a belt with the maximum strap length being 43.25 inches. Overall, the body of the mag measures 13.25 inches tall, 16.75 inches wide and 2.25 inches deep. The fake suede is made from polyurethane which you can spot clean or wipe clean, per the listing. It comes in four colors: brown (which is kind of a purplish, faded brown), green (which is a faded pea-green), black (which textured faux leather, not suede) and white.

Despite being new to the store and having limited reviews so far, shoppers seem to be flocking to this purse. Popular Target shopping Instagram account @shesattarget posted about this bag on Aug. 31, calling it the new “‘That Girl’ Fall Bag” and someone commented, "It’s giving designer…" with heart-eyed emojis. One review loved how “spacious” the purse is, making it a “great all-around bag."

"I grabbed the last one at my target and I [fell] in love," that shopper wrote earlier in their review.

One other person wrote that this slouchy crescent handbag is a "fantastic little gem." They bough the white, which they called “stunning” and “great quality for the price!” And again, even though this bag doesn’t look like it takes up a lot of space and isn’t bulky, it holds quiet a good amount.

“It’s quite spacious and love the crescent shape,” they wrote. “It was the last bag at my Target and so happy I stumbled across it. There are other colors but for me the white bag took the cake."

The Essential Convertible Top Handle Crossbody Mini Bag , $118 at Madewell

The style looks a lot like Madewell’s The Essential Convertible Top Handle Crossbody Mini Bag , which is currently $118. It’s made with real leather and has a suede exterior that looks very similar to Target’s bag. It is a bit more structured than Target’s handbag, but Madewell’s does have that crisp crescent shape.

It comes with an adjustable strap that also also be swapped out with a longer strap to make it more of a crossbody purse. As is, the handle drop is 17.75 inches, and the body of the bag measures 11 inches tall, 8.66 inches wide and 5.25 inches deep, making it a bit smaller than Target’s. It comes in other colors too, but the Withered Rose is the only one with a suede exterior. And just like Target’s, Madewell’s bag only has one main zippered pocket with a small interior pocket.

Après Oversized Slouchy Sling Bag , $98 at Anthropologie

Target’s Slouchy Crescent Sling Handbag also looks like Anthropologie’s Après Oversized Slouchy Sling Bag , which is currently $98. Both bags are unstructured and have that smiley-face crescent shape. Anthropologie’s only comes in one color—brown—which has a glossy faux leather exterior (made with polyurethane). The strap is also adjustable and has a handle drop between 13 inches and 21 inches. Overall it measures 20 inches long and 10 inches tall, making it slightly bigger than Target’s.

If you’re looking for a cute fall bag that won’t hurt your wallet, Target’s Slouchy Crescent Sling Handbag by Universal Thread is a good choice. The suede definitely screams “crisp air, apple orchards and falling leaves.”
