All eyes were on the Indiana Fever and the Las Vegas Aces on Wednesday, September 11, as the two teams faced off in what was a highly-anticipated matchup. Ultimately, it was the two-time defending champs Aces who secured a convincing 86-75 victory behind two-time WNBA MVP A'ja Wilson's incredible performance (27 points, 12 rebounds, two assists, two steals, three blocks and zero turnovers).

Caitlin Clark did all she could for the Fever, but the rookie sensation fell short after a disappointing evening. Clark finished with 16 points on 6-of-22 shooting (1-of-10 from beyond the arc), three rebounds, six assists and five turnovers.

Clark has been on a tear of late, but the Aces dragged her back down to earth on Wednesday. It was not an ideal time for the 22-year-old to have a forgettable game, considering how she had a special guest in attendance.

This came in the form of University of Iowa President Barb Wilson, who made sure to catch up with her former student before the game. Wilson also reunited with Aces guard Kate Martin, who herself was Clark's former teammate with the Hawkeyes.

Wilson shared a couple of photos on Instagram with the two WNBA stars/Iowa alums. In her caption, the school official wrote, "Forever Hawkeyes 🫶"

Both Clark and Martin, who themselves shared a brief moment on the court before tip-off, caught wind of the post, and the two former Iowa stars sent simple yet heartfelt responses to Wilson.

Clark jumped on the comments section with five yellow heart emojis, while for her part, Martin used two red heart emojis to show her love for the Iowa president.

For what it's worth, Martin did not take the court during Wednesday's game. She has played a minor role for the Aces in her rookie year -- much to the disappointment of her avid supporters.
