Lil Tay has been diagnosed with a "life threatening heart tumor" , according to a post shared on her social media page.

The rapper's X account shared an update on her health which said: "Tay has been diagnosed with a life threatening heart tumor. We ask kindly for everyone’s love and prayers." However, some fans were skeptical about the news after Lil Tay, real name Tay Tian, was the subject of a death hoax last year .

In response to the confusion, an unknown person shared a statement on her social media page . They said: "Something is indeed wrong with Tay. Last time, it was her absentee father who hacked into her accounts and faked her death.

"However, this time, she is in the ICU. She was diagnosed with a heart tumor. But we will keep you updated as we receive more information. Please continue to pray for Tay."

Her social media account also shared a picture inside a hospital with the comment: "Tay is currently in the ICU in serious condition." The health update comes just over a year since Tay and her older brother's death hoax on August 9, 2023.

At the time, it was announced from an unknown source that Tay and her brother Jason Tian had died. The source said they had "no words to express the unbearable loss and indescribable pain."

It was reported the siblings died "unexpectedly", leaving those around them "in shock". However, the statement started to be questioned when Tay's former manager Henry Tsang said he couldn't "confirm or dismiss the legitimacy" of it.

The skepticism increased when Tay and Jason's dad Christopher Hope refused to clarify what had happened, telling various news outlets he couldn't comment. Police also said they had no record of the deaths.

Tay then made a statement on August 10. She claimed her account had been hacked by a third party. She told TMZ: "I want to make it clear that my brother and I are safe and alive, but I’m completely heartbroken, and struggling to even find the right words to say."

The musician said it had been "a very traumatising 24 hours". She added: "All day yesterday, I was bombarded with endless heartbreaking and tearful phone calls from loved ones all while trying to sort out this mess."
