Miami Dolphins fans had to hold their collective breath after seeing star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa hit the deck during their game against the Buffalo Bills on Thursday night, September 12. The 26-year-old took a hard hit to the head , which was ultimately diagnosed as a concussion.

There was a lot of concern among players on both sides as they witnessed what looked like a convulsion from Tua as he lay on the grass. It was a welcome sight to see Tagovailoa get up and walk on his own after taking such a dangerous hit.

As the Pro Bowl quarterback made his way off the field, Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel was seen approaching his player and giving him some words of encouragement. McDaniel then went on to give a dejected Tagovailoa a kiss on the head as he walked off.

You can clearly see the look of concern on both player and coach. Both of them knew that this wasn't good, especially considering Tagovailoa's history of brain injuries.

A photo of McDaniel is also making its rounds on social media. In it, it looks like the Dolphins coach was holding back the tears as his heartbreaking reaction to the injury was caught by the cameras.

You hate to see it, but the way McDaniel reacted is completely understandable. He knows, of all people, the hard work Tagovailoa puts in behind the scenes and how this young man does not deserve to be in these types of situations.

Unfortunately, the harsh reality is that Tua has suffered this same type of injury way too many times. In 2022, the Dolphins QB missed multiple games after being diagnosed with a concussion twice.

At this point, it doesn't come as a shock that calls for his retirement have become more prominent -- especially after this latest incident.
