Prince Harry breaks silence as he admits to feeling 'anxious' ahead of huge milestone

Prince Harry will celebrate his 40th birthday this weekend and he's expressed his excitement about reaching this milestone as he plans to celebrate with friends.

The Duke of Sussex , who lives in California after he and Meghan Markle stepped away from the Royal Family in 2020, will be celebrating his birthday on Sunday . While some may feel upset with getting older, Harry has insisted that he is eagerly anticipating it.

In a new statement , he admitted: "I was anxious about 30, I'm excited about 40. Whatever the age, my mission is to continue showing up and doing good in the world."

"Becoming a father of two incredibly kind and funny kids has given me a fresh perspective on life, as well as sharpening my focus in all my work. Being a dad is one of life's greatest joys and has only made me more driven and more committed to making this world a better place," Harry added in a statement shared with the BBC .

Harry plans to spend the day with his two children, Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three, along with his wife Meghan Markle. He reportedly has a holiday planned with friends afterwards to commemorate the occasion.

However, none of the Royal Family will be partaking in any of the celebrations due to his ongoing feud with his brother, William. After his birthday celebrations, the Duke of Sussex is scheduled to visit New York City to promote several projects that are dear to him, including the organization behind Princess Diana's Legacy Award.

Harry is also concentrating on his work with the Archewell Foundation, a non-profit organization he co-founded with Meghan. He's also involved in a series of entertainment projects through their Netflix deal, including an upcoming documentary set to air in December that focuses on his love for polo.

Just days after making comments about his milestone birthday, Harry and Meghan were seen at a rare public outing together at a glamorous party with Hollywood's elite. They were spotted at the grand opening of a new bookstore near their Montecito home, named Godmothers.

The store was launched by renowned literary agent Jennifer Rudolph Walsh and beauty industry tycoon Victoria Jackson, with Oprah Winfrey also showing her support.
