Corey LaJoie remains without a ride in 2025 after Spire Motorsports made the decision in July to part ways with him despite having a year left on his contract.

Few options exist in the NASCAR Cup Series, though one team may soon have an opening for him. Rick Ware Racing is viewed as the likely landing spot for LaJoie, according to Jordan Bianchi of The Athletic . A move to RWR could be contingent on Justin Haley jumping ship to Spire to replace LaJoie in the No. 7 Chevrolet. Haley is the leading candidate to fill Spire’s opening, meaning this would essentially be a trade between the two teams. Haley does have one year remaining on his contract at RWR but as seen with LaJoie, that may not matter.

Corey LaJoie lining up next move following Spire departure?

It’s no secret that LaJoie, 32, has had a tough final season with Spire. He sits 32nd in the points standings through 27 races and has seen rookie teammate Carson Hocevar consistently outrun him. Now 262 starts into his Cup Series career, LaJoie remains winless. LaJoie has, however, found some consistency lately. He finished ninth at Darlington, his first career top-10 finish at a non-superspeedway. LaJoie followed it up with a respectable 15th-place finish at Atlanta this past Sunday.

For a driver currently out of a job next season, you couldn’t ask for better timing. And despite the inconsistencies in 2024, that hasn’t stopped teams from reaching out to LaJoie, who should bring good sponsorship with him wherever he goes.

“My phone’s going, and people are interested in making calls,” LaJoie said on Aug. 23. “But every good door in my life that’s been opened hasn’t been opened by myself. I wasn’t the one ripping those doors open. They were open, and I had to walk through those when the time was right. So, I have faith. And I have confidence that the next door, whether it’s on Sundays [Cup] or not, is going to open.”
