Fans say this throwback photo of Lloyd Bridges could actually be Sean Penn if they didn't know any better.

The late actor's son, Jeff Bridges , was also featured in the undated picture shared by host Stephen Colbert during a recent episode of The Late Show , in which Jeff appeared. In the black-and-white image, Lloyd was wearing a pinstripe suit, dark tie, and light-colored shirt as he posed for the camera, crouching with his arm raised as his toddler stood beside him, giving him a high-five.

While the topic of lookalikes didn't come up between Colbert, 60, and Jeff, it was underscored by fans in a brief clip of the two's conversation uploaded to Instagram late on Thursday, Sept. 12 .

"Lloyd kinda looks like Sean Penn 😮," one top-liked comment suggested, while countless others said, "His dad looks like Sean Penn."

"I’m really glad I wasn’t the only one that immediately thought that was Sean Penn," another social media user admitted.

Later on during Jeff's appearance on the late-night comedy talk show, the 74-year-old was asked about what he learned from his legendary father, who starred in classics like Airplane! (1980), Hot Shots! (1991), over 150 episodes of Sea Hunt (1958-1961), and several other blockbuster hits.

"Well," The Big Lebowski alum pondered. "Everything."

"I mean, my dad loved all aspects of showbiz and unlike a lot of showbiz parents, they wanted all their kids to go into it. You know, they were so gung ho," Jeff shared.

Recalling a time when he was a little kid, Jeff offered an example of his father's enthusiasm around the time the late actor was working on Sea Hunt in the early '60s, "He would say, 'You wanna get out of school or you wanna go play, come on!'"

"He taught me all the basics," he said, noting that sometimes his older brother, Beau , would also appear on the action-adventure series.

"And then I got to work with him as an adult in two movies, 'Tucker' with Francis Coppola ," which was released in 1988 and which Jeff described as "remarkable," and Blown Away , the 1994 R-rated crime-drama also starring Tommy Lee Jones .

"You ask what I learned from him, he taught me all the basics about, you know, 'You got to listen to the other guy. You can't just say your lines,' and you know, doing it differently."

"But the main thing," the True Grit actor said he learned from his dad, "was the joy in which he approached his work."
