General Hospital's (GH) current storyline reveals that Nina’s recent behavior toward Ava has caught fans off guard. After Ava’s betrayal shattered their friendship, many believed Nina would never forgive her.

However, Nina’s unexpected kindness toward Ava, including helping her find a lawyer to avoid prison, has left both Ava and viewers wondering if there’s more to Nina’s actions than meets the eye.

    Nina’s Motives for Helping Ava

Many admirers have been surprised by Nina's recent behavior. Their friendship was destroyed by Ava's betrayal, which had previously led many viewers to believe Nina would never get over it. But Ava now regrets how she handled Nina, who has been genuinely attempting to assist her in finding legal representation and avoiding jail time. Nina had two motives for being so kind to Ava, even if Ava asked why.

First of all, Nina acknowledged that she wished Avery would not lose her mother. Even with her imperfections, Ava likes Avery, and now that she's developing a mother-daughter relationship with Willow, Nina can appreciate that bond even more. Actually, Nina gave Willow a second explanation for her change of heart. Willow was open to giving Nina another chance, so Nina reasoned that perhaps Ava should have too.

Perhaps this is just an easy way for the show to mend Ava and Nina's broken relationship. Presumably, the GH writers are simply attempting to put the past behind them and move on, as Nina and Ava were entertaining friends. That said if Nina is genuinely developing a long-term retaliation scheme, that would be an incredible twist.

    Ava’s Potential Self-Sabotage

Although Nina may have other options for retaliation down the road, it may not be true that she wants Avery's mother to go to jail. When Ava claimed to have assisted Nina in attempting to mend her marriage to Sonny, Nina was clearly not pleased.

Ava alienated Nina with her self-centered actions as she attempted to get closer to Sonny. If Nina is merely feigning assistance to Ava in order to blow things up for her later, then that would make sense! Perhaps Nina might give Ava a false sense of security and convince her that they are actually getting back together.

Somewhere along the line, it might pave the way for Nina to surprise Ava by revealing her true identity. This is particularly true if Ava takes further action to irritate Nina. Ava could undo any progress they might make because of her propensity for self-sabotage, which would leave Nina prepared to somehow cause her "friend" to fail.

Ava will soon receive updates regarding some positive developments regarding her legal case, but our forecasts suggest that more difficulties may lie ahead.
