Raiders land young stud DE, WR, 2 picks in wild 3-team trade proposal by ESPN

Speculation about the Las Vegas Raiders trading wide receiver Davante Adams has run rampant the entire offseason and it doesn't appear to be stopping anytime soon.

Most recently, ESPN's Seth Walder dreamed up a wild three-team trade involving the Raiders, Kansas City Chiefs and New York Jets that has Adams and disgruntled edge rusher Haason Reddick finding new homes.

But Reddick doesn't go to the Raiders in this deal. Instead, he lands with the Chiefs, who also get a Raiders draft pick. The Jets only get Adams in the deal, while Las Vegas receives defensive end George Karlaftis, wide receiver Allen Lazard and selections in the second and fifth rounds in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Here's a look at the full details proposed by Walder:

    • Jets get: WR Davante Adams

    • Chiefs get: Reddick, Las Vegas' 2025 sixth-round pick

    • Raiders get: DE George Karlaftis, WR Allen Lazard, Kansas City's 2025 fifth-round pick, New York's 2025 second-round pick

Now, I don't think general manager Tom Telesco would trade Adams this early, as doing so would great hinder Las Vegas' offense and playoff hopes. Not to mention, the fact that Telesco reportedly wasn't willing to trade fellow wide receiver Jakobi Meyers when approached by the San Francisco 49ers makes it even less likely.

But this proposal is as close to one that could make Telesco consider such a move as you could get. The two draft picks would greatly help Telesco in his retool or rebuild of this roster in the next few years, and Karlaftis is an impressive young pass-rusher who has tallied 16.5 sacks over his first two seasons in the NFL, including 10.5 in 2023.

With Malcolm Koonce set to his free agency in 2025, the Raiders could avoid paying him and would have Karlaftis, who would have two more years on his rookie deal after this one, to take his place.

And, the former first-round pick would also provide a huge boost to Las Vegas' beat up edge rusher group right now.

Lazard is the least attractive piece in this trade but would be a decent addition in the wake of the Raiders giving up Adams. He's got two more years left on his deal but the Raiders would have the option to cut him without a big dead money hit. It's also possible the Raiders could flip him for a late-round pick down the road.

Again, it remains to be seen if Telesco would even entertain trading Adams, let alone in a situation that would greatly benefit a division rival.

But Telesco would at least have to stop and think about Walder's proposal if it ever came across his desk, as it's exactly the kind of deal a general manager with an eye on the future would be interested in.
