Latest Update On Apalachee High School Shooter’s Father

The New York Post reports that Colin Gray reportedly requested separation from inmates, fearing backlash over the Apalachee shooting.

Per the outlet, Colin Gray has received an “incalculable number of threats” since authorities named his son Colt Gray as the Apalachee shooter.

Colin’s legal team says some of the threats are even demanding for his death.

“It is certain that those feelings of anger and retribution manifested in the collective psyche, of both the public and the community at large are not also represented in the individuals currently incarcerated with the Defendant at the Barrow County Detention Center,” the filing stated.

According to NBC News , Colin’s legal team argued in their filing that assuming no inmates wish to harm him would be “reckless.”

“In fact, so many lives in the community of Barrow County have been touched in unfathomable ways, it would be reckless to assume there are NO inmates, either currently or in the near future, being housed in the Barrow County Detention, who wish to harm the Defendant,” the filing insists.

What’s Next For The Father And Son?

As The Shade Room previously reported Colin Gray’s arrest followed his son’s charges in the Apalachee High School shooting.

The New York Post revealed that Colin, 54, faces charges of involuntary manslaughter, second-degree murder, and cruelty to children.

The latest filing notes that Colin remains in custody without bond and could face up to 180 years in prison if convicted.

The disgraced father faces charges after reports show he purchased the AR-15-style rifle Colt used in the Apalachee massacre.

CNN reports that neither Colin nor his son Colt has entered a plea.

However, Atlanta News First adds that they are scheduled to appear in court on December 4. The publication also mentioned that a grand jury has been selected to review formal charges against them on October 17.

New Insights About The Day Of The Apalachee School Shooting

CNN shared new details from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation about the Apalachee High School shooting on (Sept. 4), according to TSR.

The bureau claims that 14-year-old Colt Gray brought an AR-15-style rifle firearm into his classroom the day of the incident.

“The assault-style rife could not be broken down, but Gray hid it in his backpack,” the bureau’s statement notes.

The statement also notes that Colt “requested permission from his teacher to visit the front office and speak with someone.”

“The teacher allowed him to leave and take his belongings with him. Gray went to the restroom and hid from teachers. Later, he took out the rifle, and began shooting,” the statement details.
