Palm Beach County, FL - A mother is demanding answers after her seventh-grade son was attacked and thrown down the stairs of a Palm Beach County school.

The incident, which was captured on video, has raised concerns about the school district's handling of student safety.

WPTV reports that the mother, Jairishiela Gomez, says her son was assaulted by another student while walking down the stairwell at John F. Kennedy Middle School on August 29th.

The footage captured the attacker pulling the victim down the stairs and repeatedly punching and kicking him, even after he was on the ground.

Gomez says she was unaware of the attack until she received the video from another parent.

She immediately contacted the school, but days passed without any response.

Gomez tells WPTV that it wasn't until September 3rd that the assistant principal addressed the incident, informing her that the attacker had been suspended for a week.

Gomez says her son and the attacker have been involved in ongoing conflicts, and the school had previously promised to mediate the situation.

However, Gomez claims that mediation never took place.

Gomez expressed frustration with the school district's response and the lack of support for her son.

In a statement, the Palm Beach County School District acknowledged the incident and said that its under investigation.

The district also emphasized its commitment to ensuring a safe learning environment for all students and staff.
