A Michigan State Police (MSP) officer was injured and another driver was killed during a crash that occurred during roadside traffic stop on a commercial vehicle on Friday morning.

According to MSP, the crash occurred around 8:40 a.m. on Friday, September 13, on I-75 near Dix in Lincoln Park.

“A Motor Carrier Officer (MCO) was out on a traffic stop when their vehicle was struck by another vehicle,” MSP said.

The MCO officer was inside the cruiser with seatbelt fastened when the cruiser was struck by a Ford Explorer.

Images captured at the scene show the MSP police cruiser crumpled and partially wedged under the semi’s trailer.

The MCO required extrication and was transported to a hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. He was conscious and speaking, according to reports.

The driver of the Explorer died in the crash.

    This is a developing story.

Slow Down Move Over!! It's the law!! This scenario happens to much!! Our emergency crews including Tow Operators are being killed everyday because our roads are not being patrolled like they use to!! And the state isn't doing much about it either when they could. They rather take funding and use it for other things not as important! Lost my young grandson almost a year ago due to wreck less speeding. He left behind 2 children and a huge family who loved him dearly. He was #37 Tow Operator taken 11/2023:(
