Josh Allen's three-word message about Buffalo Bills teammate speaks volumes

Josh Allen three-word message to Buffalo Bills teammate James Cook says everything about the running back following his three-touchdown display in the demolition of the Miami Dolphins on Thursday Night Football.

Cook, a 24-year-old running back, proved his value to the Bills in the 2023 season with a series of top-drawer displays, including a 179-yard rush, one-touchdown win over the Dallas Cowboys. However, at times, Cook failed to protect the ball, leading to four fumbles.

Work has been done in the offseason, though, with the second-round pick out of Georgia in 2022 picking up where he left off last season in rushing and receiving yardage and adding more touchdowns to his name. In 2023, Cook scored two rushing and four receiving touchdowns.

On Thursday night against the Dolphins, he scored three first-half touchdowns, matching his rushing total from last year, including a 49-yard dash and front flip into the end zone, helping the Bills to a 31-10 road victory on the same night rival QB Tua Tagovailoa suffered another concussion .

"Let James Cook," Bills quarterback Allen stated, repeating the viral saying about Cook last season , who'll be crucial for Buffalo this year following the trade of Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans.

Allen is also nursing an injury to his weaker left hand, which could see the QB take fewer rushing risks, shifting more of the workload over to Cook, especially on short rushes close to the end zone. "Seems like each week, he's getting more comfortable and confident," Allen said. "He's been begging for some goal-line runs and we gave it to him, and he got his touchdown down there."

Bills head coach Sean McDermott was also massively complimentary of Cook, who is the younger brother of Dalvin Cook, a rushing superstar of old now on the Dallas Cowboys' practice squad. "James Cook really showed up in a lot of different ways for us tonight," he said.

"James just continues to grow and get better," McDermott continued. Cook is also a Florida native having played his high school football at Miami Central before heading to Georgia for college. However, since going pro, Cook hasn't had the best of luck in his old stomping ground.

He only managed 13 carries for 32 yards combined in his last two road games against the Dolphins. "He's from here and I know it was important for him to play well," McDermott said. "He's just continuing to grow and develop. Just extremely proud of him."

Cook was pleased to be trusted with the rush for a one-yard touchdown, something that hadn't been regular last season, or in the 2024 NFL opener against the Arizona Cardinals. "Like you seen today, if they trust me, I'm going to get it into the end zone," Cook declared.
