(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The city of Chicago is reportedly getting ready to announce plans to combine the shelter systems for homeless and migrants.

According to the Chicago Tribune , the city's “One System Initiative” report is supposed to be announced next Thursday afternoon on the West Side.

It is reportedly the culmination of months of work to figure out a way to merge Chicago's two separate systems of shelters so migrants and anyone in the city who's homeless has a place to stay.

Advocates for the homeless say that will better serve both sets of people, with basic services like food, health care and jobs.

The city says that around 48,000 migrants passed through and stayed in Chicago for some period of time over the past two years, many bussed to Chicago from Texas.

The city budgeted $150 million last year and this year to house and feed migrants.

There are currently about 55,00 migrants in 17 shelters.

We.all knew this would happen, the moment the election is over there will be no more special treatment for the migrants, all the extra help will slowly go away and then they will actually be homeless just like the Americans
