    Wolverine Trail becomes state-maintained road

MILL SPRING—After more than a decade of prep work, Wolverine Trail will now be maintained by the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

Wolverine Trail, which runs between Highway 108 and Silver Creek Road, and goes past the Department of Social Services, the Polk County Recreation Complex, and Polk County Middle School, has been a much-used private road in the past.

It has taken several steps over the years to get this road to the standard in which NCDOT assumes control of the road.

The Polk County Board of Commissioners voted during its September 3 meeting on an agreement for NCDOT to take it on.
