K endrick Lamar has been wreaking havoc all summer.

First, he kept everyone on the edge of their seats in a rap sparring match with Drake , and now he’s been announced as the performer for the Super Bowl LIX halftime .

While that’s quite an accomplishment, it has become a hot debate because 2025’s big game will be held in New Orleans, and the biggest rapper from that city, Lil Wayne , won’t be performing.

Now, Wayne has finally spoken out about the perceived snub in a video posted to Instagram in the early morning of September 13, and he’s just as upset as his millions of fans that he won’t be touching the stage.

“First of all, I want to say forgive me for the delay. I had to get strength enough to do this without breaking. I’ma say thank you to every voice, every opinion, all the care, love and support out there. Your words turned into arms and held me up when I tried to fall back.”

He goes on to blame himself for not prepping himself and for not being ready for the possibility of not being chosen to represent his city.

“That hurt. It hurt a lot. You know what I’m talking about. It hurt a whole lot,” he added. “I blame myself for not being mentally prepared for a letdown, and for automatically mentally putting myself in that position like somebody told me that was my position. So I blame myself for that.”

Wayne explains that despite his disappointment that he won’t be able to perform for New Orleans, he’s humbled and grateful to see how much his fans have fought for him and essentially created a controversy.

Weezy concluded the message by thanking his celeb fans, who spoke out despite feeling like he disappointed them.

“So, like I said, it broke me and I’m just trying to put me back together. But my God, have you all helped me. Thanks to all of my peers, my friends, my family, my homies on the sports television and everybody repping me. I really appreciate that, I really do,” he said. “I feel like I let all of y’all down by not getting that opportunity, but I’m working on me and I’m working. So thank you.”
