BREAKING: Chiefs Reveal Marquise Brown Injury Update; Season Over?

The Kansas City Chiefs' journey to an unprecedented third consecutive Super Bowl hit a speed bump Friday when speedy receiver Marquise "Hollywood" Brown was placed on injured reserve. Brown suffered a dislocated shoulder in the first preseason game and will now undergo surgery.

He will miss at least the next four games - including Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals at Arrowhead Stadium - and according to multiple reports his season is in jeopardy because of the injury.

Brown, who played with the Baltimore Ravens and Arizona Cardinals in his first five seasons, was the Chiefs' major offseason acquisition. Without him, quarterback Patrick Mahomes will have to rely more on Rashee Rice and first-round draft pick Xavier Worthy, who scored two touchdowns in the season-opening win over the Ravens.

Brown had 51 catches for 574 yards and four touchdowns in 14 starts for the Cardinals. His best NFL season came in 2021 with the Ravens when he caught 91 passes for 1,008 yards.

The Chiefs had been salivating at the prospect of a passing offense that paired the speed of Brown and Worthy on the outside, along with Rice and stat tight end Travis Kelce. Those plans, however, are now on temporary hold and may ultimately be scrapped altogether.
