NFL Week 2 DFS Full Slate

DFS NFL Week 2 is upon us. Each week, we spotlight three to four core plays to help you build a winning weekly DFS lineup on Fanduel and DraftKings. In building a successful lineup, look for positional values to see where you can save money and players with projected low ownership who can pay 2x-2.5x of their listed DFS salary.

You bank on getting a minimum of 20 points from the quarterback position, you can not miss this position. Expect to pay up at the tight end, you can save at other spots. A successful strategy can be the QB-TE stack. These core plays will give you a nucleus for your DFS build.

Perhaps most importantly, you don’t need me to tell you this to start Patrick Mahomes or Lamar Jackson in week two. These recommendations are designed to give you players we feel will be low-owned and give you a unique DFS build.

    DFS Start ‘Ems

Here are a few of the players we are heavily leaning on in this game. These players are in a good spot to have a solid performance and a favorable matchup.

Joe Burrow ($6300 DraftKings and $7400 Fanduel)

Joe Burrow was disappointing last week but he is still an elite option, priced great, and more than capable of getting the 20-point quarterback target. The poor performance last week may keep his ownership down for week 2.

Burrow has a history of success versus the Chiefs. In his last two regular-season starts against Kansas City, he has a 6-0 touchdown-to-interception ratio, a 78.6 % completion percentage, and a 13 Y/C. And by the way, in those games, he has a 138.8 QB rating!

JK Dobbins ($5400 DraftKings and $6800 Fanduel)

Dobbins shows what he can do when healthy last week. In week two, he gets the 31st-ranked run defense, and that pairs well with the Chargers run-based offense. Dobbins showed out last week with 135 rushing yards on just 1o carries and averaged 13.5 yards per rush.

He had an explosive run of 61 and finished with 24.4 fantasy points. We considered him for the lock this week against a bad Carolina team, but Gus Edwards is still a factor in the Charger’s backfield.

Malik Nabers ($5900 DraftKings and $6400 Fanduel)

Nabers gets the 32nd ranked Commnaders defense which sets him up for a big week. Washington just today lost corner Emmanuel Forbes to a torn UCL in his thumb. Nabers is the Giant’s most explosive option in the passing game and last week led the team with five catches for 66 yards.

This week is a get-right spot for quarterback Daniel Jones, who may be playing for his job. In addition, please beware that as of this writing, Nabers has been deemed questionable with a knee injury.

Jamar Chase ( $7800 DraftKings and $8700 Fanduel)

We found out Jamar Chase was ill last week suffering from food poisoning and is still working himself into game shape after his ‘hold’ in. He is coming off a sub-par outing last week versus the Patriots.

Chase still had six catches for 62 yards, had a 100% catch rate, and tied for the team lead with six targets. In a common theme, may go lower owned off last week’s disappointing start. We are not alone in our thinking because Chase is the fourth-highest price wideout on Fanduel for week 2.

    DFS Sit ‘Ems

On the flip side of things, here are a few of the players we are sitting in this one.

Geno Smith ($5500 DraftKings and $7300 Fanduel)

Geno Smith faces a Patriots defense that held Joe Burrow to 164 yards passing and no touchdowns in week one. New England, last season, was top 10 in passing yards allowed per game and top five in passing touchdowns allowed.

Smith’s passing stats were modest last week with a stat line of 18-25 for 171 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Final points, this game has implied a total of 38.5 and is being played in New England.

Courtland Sutton ($5400 DraftKings and $5400 Fanduel)

Sutton will be matched against Steelers top corner Joey Porter Jr. Last week in Atlanta, Porter held the Falcons’ top wideout Drake London to 2 catches for 15 yards. Porter will most likely have shadow coverage on Sutton throughout the game.

In addition, Nix could be under duress all game against a Steeler defense that harassed Kirk Cousins in Week 1. You might want to look elsewhere for wide receiver selections this week.

Jayden Reed ($6000 DraftKings and $5800 Fanduel)

Reed like the other Green Bay Packers wideouts suffers a serious downgrade with Maik Willis. You would expect the Packers to feature the run game more and limit Willis’ pass attempts. Willis has played in 13 NFL games.

His stats are 35-67 for 350 yards, 52.2 % completion percentage, and zero passing touchdowns. Reed was undoubtedly spectacular last week versus the Eagles, but he is not set up for success this week.

The Colt’s secondary presents a difficult matchup as they were top two in receiving yards allowed to slot wide receivers.

Total Apex Stud of the Day

Cooper Kupp ( $7600 DraftKings and $7700 Fanduel)

Kupp week one, 21 targets, 14 catches for 110 yards, and a touchdown. He commanded a 42.9 % target share and no Pukua Nacua this week. He will get fed the ball and should pay the 2x his salary by volume alone.

Last week you saw the 2022 Cooper Kupp and to me, this is a no-brainer. His price point is very affordable and he can be a core in your DFS lineups. Our DFS roster construction can be unique elsewhere and you could argue Kupp has the highest floor of any DFS play this week.

Total Apex Dud of the Day

Calvin Ridley ($5800 DraftKings and $6100 Fanduel)

Calvin Ridley is predicted to run most of his pass routes versus Sauce Gardner this week. The Jet defense is much better than they showed last week and we were among the league’s best last season against the X wide receiver.

My other concern is the play of quarterback Will Levis. Last week against the Bears he was 19-32 for 127 yards, two interceptions, and his QB rating was 52.4. Levis finished as QB 27 last week and was bottom five in yards per attempt, and passer rating. Ridley would not be considered a sit this week but temper expectations with an unstartable fantasy quarterback.

    Stack of the Day

    Recommended DFS stacks include Burrow-Chase, Stafford-Kupp, Jones-Nabers

Additional DFS start: Jordan Mason, Jaleel McLaughlin, Amari Cooper, Mark Andrews, and Travis Kelce

    Conclusion

Each week in DFS your payline for FanDuel is approximately 125 points, which is 2x per player. For example, a player with a $4500 salary needs nine points. DraftKings pay line is approximately 134 points, which is 2.5x per player. So for a $4500 salary that player would need 9.9 points. We also want a DFS lineup unique to the masses. You want players that are projected for low ownership.
