Former Premier League manager Harry Redknapp has predicted that Liverpool will extend its unbeaten run at the start of the new campaign as he predicted that the Reds will defeat Nottingham Forest.

The Merseysiders impressed in the opening three fixtures of the season with victories against Ipswich Town, Brentford and Manchester United. With the games set to come thick and fast both domestically and in European competition this month, the coming weeks present a fresh challenge for Arne Slot's side.

After the clash with Forest at Anfield, a maiden Champions League clash of the campaign will follow on Tuesday against AC Milan. For now, ex-Tottenham Hotspur boss Redknapp could not be more impressed with Liverpool's start to the new term as he predicted another victory and a clean sheet on Saturday.

  • Liverpool came up with the perfect response to Paul Scholes' baseless assumption about Arne Slot
  • The veteran coach told BetVictor : "The season couldn’t have started much better for Arne Slot. Three games, three wins and three clean sheets. Premier League management is easy! They seem to be very organised right now and there’s a few of these players that are playing out of their skin.

"Nottingham Forest have picked up a couple of draws and seem to be a more organised side than last season," he continued, as he weighed up the Reds' next opponents. "They’ve had quite an easy start though, we’ll learn a lot about this side over the next few weeks, starting here. I can only see one winner in this one. 3-0 Liverpool and another clean sheet."

As for one to watch in the game, Redknapp also gave mention to one of the surprise revelations of the campaign so far for the Reds. He said: " Mohamed Salah is back to his best but I’ve got to say a word about Ryan Gravenberch , he has been brilliant. He’s made that position his own."

As for Liverpool boss Slot, he spoke positively as he looked forward to a return to club action following the international break. He said: "That's always the question after two weeks, but if you saw them playing with the national teams, I think the momentum for the individual [is there] and now let's see if they come back together if they can play in the same way as the last few games.

"But it also depends on the opponent you face, so sometimes they make it more difficult for you than in other situations, so of course we look at ourselves a lot.

He continued: "But you also have to relate it to the team you face, and Nottingham Forest hasn't lost this season yet. I think they won the last two games of last season, so they're in a good place as well. It's going to be a tough one and an interesting one to look forward to."

Addressing his potential team selection for the upcoming fixture, with a European tie to come in midweek, he said: "That's something that I decide before every game. My former teams… we were actually able to play almost every game with the same players, but it's a different league.

"I might have to adjust to that, but it also depends on what they show and by what they show I mean in terms of physique. In the first three games we were [in a] really strong physique but we only played one day each seven days. Now they have a point to prove and I assume that they all want to play every game."
