Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce's classy gesture to Louis Rees-Zammit after Kansas City Chiefs exit

Louis Rees-Zammit's unexpected release from the Kansas City Chiefs was softened by a touching show of support from former teammates Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes . He's now swapping Kansas for Florida, having inked a deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars .

Despite his brief stint with the Chiefs, where he only notched three pre-season games, Rees-Zammit built lasting friendships.

The Welsh rugby player turned NFL hopeful shared that Mahomes and Kelce have been nothing but encouraging since he left the team. "I had so many messages from all of them wishing me luck. I've been playing the game for three months," admitted Rees-Zammit.

The advice from his former pals has been simple, yet powerful: "They just said stick at it and keep working on what you can work on and eventually everything will work out."

Switching roles in the sport, Rees-Zammit faced a steep learning curve, to which he comments, "They didn't know that I was going to change positions and stuff. So in terms of that advice, then probably not. But it's more, I'm a very hard worker and I really want this.", reports Wales Online .

Taking a significant step in his football career, Rees-Zammit has snagged a spot on the Jaguars' practice squadgranted as part of the International Player Pathway program's allowance for an additional player.

This opportunity arose after Patrick Murtagh, an Australian player and Rees-Zammit's peer on the IPP pathway, endured an injury, thus vacating a coveted position on the practice team.

Rees-Zammit also shared that he's relishing his role as a wide receiver, which lets him leverage his speed and strength. During his stint with the Chiefs, he primarily played four roles - part of the punt coverage team, running back, kicker, and kick-returner.

He was predominantly used as a special teams player for the Chiefs, and briefly served as a wide receiver, but it appears that position is more firmly established for him with the Jaguars.
