Robert Griffin III Rips New York Giants for ‘Biggest Mistake’ in Franchise History

Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season didn't go too well for the New York Giants thanks to a horrid performance under center from Daniel Jones.

Jones couldn't get anything going on offense for the Giants (22/42, 186 YDS, 0 TD, 2 INT, 6 CAR, 15 YDS), and it ended up leading to a disappointing 28-6 defeat at the hands of the Minnesota Vikings.

While it was admittedly Jones' first game after he tore his ACL in 2023, Robert Griffin III has seen enough. Ahead of their Week 2 contest, Griffin lit the Giants up for handing Jones his massive four-year, $160 million contract, going as far to call it the worst decision in the franchise's history.

The deal itself obviously isn't looking too good for the Giants, but the fact that they also prioritized extending Jones over superstar running back Saquon Barkley, who ended up leaving for the Philadelphia Eagles in free agency, makes it even worse.

There's obviously still time for Jones to turn things around, but he hasn't exactly inspired much confidence to this point.

Griffin is already jumping ship, and if Jones puts together a few more outings like he did in Week 1, he could find himself on the bench for New York.

The NY Giants need an O Line. No QB can be successful as currently constituted.
