Liam Gallagher responds to reports of 'leaked' Oasis reunion at Super Bowl

Longtime lead singer of Oasis, Liam Gallagher, played into the speculation of an apparent Apple Music sheet that leaked Kendrick Lamar's Super Bowl halftime setlist . Gallagher chose not to confirm or deny the accuracy of the exposed music sheet.

Lamar was officially announced as the New Orleans Super Bowl performer last Sunday. The decision caused a stir among football and rap fans online, who assumed that local legend Lil Wayne would headline the event.

After countless passionate, back-and-forth debates about the game's headliner, a leaked setlist shifted the conversation toward its authenticity. The leaked setlist split Lamar's performance into three sections: Part I, Part II, and an encore.

What truly baffled fans and music lovers of all genres was the encore section of the sheet that indicated that Lamar would perform his diss track, "Not Like Us," directed at Drake, six times in a row to close out the show. But the biggest surprise was the encore's opening, where Lamar was said to be performing the Oasis hit "Rock N' Roll Star," featuring KB and the band itself.

Gallagher, known for his outspoken personality, took to social media in response to the leak, writing, "How’s that leaked ffs," causing fans to wonder whether the singer was joking around or seriously confused that the information got out so far in advance before the game. It should, however, be noted that it is highly unlikely the setlist is real, considering the limited time available.

The internet was full of reactions to his tweets, weighing in on the seemingly unlikely collaboration. One fan commented, "Is this for real? Oasis at the Super Bowl? I'm not processing it, but Kenny does like Oasis." Another fan responded directly to Gallagher, asking, "Are you ready to diss Drake with Kendrick ?" Still, some remained skeptical, with an Oasis supporter writing, "He's joking, guys. He would ignore it if it was true," while another skeptic said, "Insane crossover if true."

The song "Rock 'n' Roll Star" appeared as the first track on Oasis' debut studio album in 1994, entitled "Definitely Maybe." Liam famously performed the song at a charity concert in 2017 to aid the Manchester Area Bombings. He's credited as the lead vocalist and tambourine player for the record.

According to online archives, Oasis last performed the track on tour in 2009 before the band split up later that year . Lamar has built a reputation for bringing out shock performers during his performances across genres, including Tyler The Creator and Anderson: Paak, Dr. Dre, and more.

The rapper has 17 Grammy wins, with his last chart-topper remaining at No. 1 on Billboard for two weeks. Lamar was partially selected for the role by Jay-Z, the co-producer of the show. "Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date. And I'll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one." said Lamar in a press release. The Super Bowl will kick off on Feb 9, with the Apple music show airing on Fox.
