As we tick ever closer to the playoffs, an intriguing topic emerged from a NL West franchise. On Friday, the Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts mentions that he doesn’t rule out Ohtani from pitching in the postseason. A decision that could prove to be helpful to the organization. Why?

Well, for one thing, pitching has been a real issue for the Dodgers. Their ace Kershaw is only getting older. And last season’s postseason performance has got to raise some concerns.

For instance, last October Los Angeles Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw gave up six runs, six hits and one home run in the first inning of the National League Division Series. Starting a game like that is not a winning formula or strategy. Therefore, LA is certainly devising and considering alternative options in order to not face such an outcome again in the near future.

Hence, enter the possibility of Shohei taking up duties on the mound. Before injury, Ohtani was an extremely productive and effective starter. Which is why his name continuously was brought up and mentioned in MVP talks. So then, if Ohtani is back to being strong and healthy; pulling the Shohei pitching card out for the playoffs makes sense.

“I think that you should always leave some margin, a crack in the door for any possibility. If things line up and there’s a need, and the game, [Ohtani’s] body, everything is telling us that it makes sense in that situation, great. It would be storybook.

Shohei is on board. We’ll just continue his rehab process, and I wouldn’t put it past him to have an eye on [pitching in the postseason]. We’ll just see how it plays out.”

Translation: Shohei Ohtani wants to win a full season championship as badly as the Dodgers organization and their fans. And he is willing to do anything to make that happen. The ultimate team player.
