Jacksonville, AL – Jacksonville State University (JSU) will host the Alabama Supreme Court for oral arguments on Tuesday, September 17, on the 11th floor of the Houston Cole Library. This event is a significant opportunity for the campus community, including students and staff, to witness the highest level of judicial proceedings in the state.

The day’s activities will begin with doors opening at 8:30 a.m., followed by a welcome at 9:30 a.m. The oral arguments will commence promptly at 10:00 a.m. The session will be followed by a special lecture delivered by Chief Justice Tom Parker.

To attend the oral arguments and Chief Justice Parker’s lecture, all participants must pre-register. The Houston Cole Library will be open for its regular business hours, but temporary security measures will be in place. Visitors, employees, and attendees are advised to arrive early to accommodate additional security procedures. The Jax State Clear Bag Policy will be enforced, and metal detectors will be used at all building entrances.

In addition, attendees are requested to turn off and stow away all cellular phones and electronic devices to maintain the decorum of the Court during the sessions.

This event provides a unique educational experience, offering a real-time view of the judicial process and an opportunity to see the principles of the legal system in action. JSU encourages all students, faculty, and staff to engage in this informative occasion and take advantage of the presence of Alabama’s highest court on campus.
