Giants Injury Report: Nabers Healthy for Washington

The New York Giants have the opportunity to get back on track and find their first win in their first trip away from home.

Facing the Washington Commanders – who lost their opener 37-20 – New York has the opportunity to compete against a rookie quarterback and a suspect defense.

But putting points on the board demands the Giants have the horses to do so. And after Darius Slayton entered concussion protocol and Malik Nabers popped up on the Thursday injury report, eyebrows were raised.

Friday’s injury report gave some clarity to New York’s lingering injuries.

    DID NOT PARTICIPATE

    • Cornerback Nick McCloud (Knee) – Out
    • Linebacker Darius Muasau (Knee) – Out
    • Receiver Gunner Olszewski (Groin) – Out

    LIMITED

    • None

    FULL

    • Receiver Darius Slayton (Concussion Protocol)
    • Linebacker Micah McFadden (Groin)
    • Receiver Malik Nabers (Knee)

Without game day statuses, it’s safe to assume the trio who practiced in full on Friday are set to go for Sunday’s affair. Nabers especially is said to be totally fine, and even his limited designation earlier in the week failed to furnish much concern from the team.

With Slayton and McFadden, though, questions remain.

Head coach Brian Daboll made it clear that receiver Jalin Hyatt would step up in Slayton’s absence. With Slayton projected to play, will Hyatt once again see a third of the playing time of the starters, or will Daboll take the load off of Slayton by splitting time more evenly? At linebacker, McFadden was supposed to be ready for Week 1, but spent the game on the sideline. With Muasau out, McFadden is a key to the Giants holding up at the second level – if he sees the time necessary to make an impact.

Expect to see a ton of Nabers on Sunday against a Commanders secondary missing corner Emmanuel Forbes (UCL surgery). With a mostly healthy group, New York is fairly well-positioned to bounce back after last week’s loss.
