Steelers' Justin Fields Gives Selfless Response On QB Situation

Since the start of the offseason, the main discourse around the Pittsburgh Steelers has been about who will be starting for them at quarterback. Now, heading into Week 2, those discussions are more prominent than ever.

With originally-announced starter Russell Wilson expected to miss his second-straight game with a calf injury, Justin Fields will be starting for the Steelers again after the team began the season 1-0 with Fields at the helm last week.

Despite Fields playing a mostly mistake-free game in Week 1, the current expectation is that Wilson will return as the starter when he is fully healthy. However, if Fields continues to win games with Wilson on the sideline, it will be hard for the team to send Fields back to the bench.

When asked about how important the opportunity was to start this week and showcase his abilities, Fields made it clear that his focus is on the team rather than himself.

"It's very important - more important for the team than for me," said Fields. "I have a job, and that's to lead us to a win each and every week. So, we can have this debate on who's the starter, who's not the starter, but my main job is to go in there and help my team win the game. So, as long as I do that, then I feel good."

Fields will get another chance to help the Steelers win when they face the Denver Broncos at 4:25 P.M. EST on Sunday.
