The Chicago Bears were the recipients of bad news earlier this week when it was revealed that rookie wide receiver Rome Odunze is dealing with a sprained MCL . While the injury held him out of Thursday's practice, Odunze was able to return to the field in a limited capacity one day later.

This year's No. 9 overall selection isn't in the clear just yet, though. The Bears listed Odunze as questionable following Friday's practice, leaving time to tell if he'll be healthy enough to face the Houston Texans on the road in Week 2.

Even though his status for the weekend is still undecided, Odunze had a promising post-practice update to share with the media.

"As I started to move my leg, bend my leg a little bit, you start to get that confidence," Odunze told reporters, per Marquee Bears. "I’ll continue to build that so I can hopefully play Sunday.”

Judging by Odunze's statement, it seems that his left knee is feeling much better than it was earlier this week. Still, the Bears could opt to take a cautious approach with their first-round investment's long-term health.

Odunze made his highly anticipated Bears debut alongside 2024 No. 1 pick Caleb Williams in Week 1. Although Chicago emerged victorious, the former Washington playmaker didn't make much of a statement as he hauled in just one of his four targets for 11 receiving yards.

Odunze oozed with potential during his time with the Huskies. He paced the entire country with 1,640 receiving yards in his final year at Washington while registering a career-best 13 touchdowns on 92 receptions.

With veteran WR Keenan Allen also questionable for Week 2, the Bears may be shorthanded at wide receiver at NRG Stadium on Sunday.
