Kirk Herbstreit Blames SEC Team for Ruining Week 3 'College GameDay' Plans

College GameDay has had quite a good start to the 2024 season, and they will be in attendance for South Carolina vs. LSU on Saturday.

The popular show's choice for their Week 3 game was a bit perplexing to some, as there were several other matchups that fans viewed as more favorable than this one.

Ahead of the action getting underway on Sunday, Kirk Herbstreit took a second to explain College GameDay's polarizing decision on social media. According to the man himself, the plan was to cover Georgia vs. Kentucky, but the Wildcats blowout 31-6 loss at the hands of South Carolina in Week 2 forced the show to change their plans.

With Kentucky getting smacked around by South Carolina, chances are they won't fare well against Georgia, who are the top ranked team in the nation.

If the game is a wash, that means that College GameDay's viewership numbers would go down, so they were forced to pivot and find a more interesting game, which led them to South Carolina-LSU.

Chances are the show will still be wildly entertaining one way or another, but fans will be left pondering College GameDay's unique Game 3 decision if the South Carolina-LSU game doesn't live up to expectations.

South Carolina defense is for real. It could be a long day for the LSU offense.
