WNBA Fans Irritated with Cheryl Reeve's Latest Caitlin Clark Comments

Caitlin Clark has seemingly become the face of the WNBA since becoming a superstar in college. Not only is her brilliant play boosting views for the league but she's also helped lead the Indiana Fever to their first playoff appearance since 2016.

Despite that, the superstar point guard has received some criticism early in her career. Minnesota Lynx head coach, Cheryl Reeve was one of them. Reeve brushed off Clark's stardom early in the season by claiming "I don't give two s****," about the amount of Fever fans attending a Lynx game.

Additionally, Reeve and the selection committee chose not to include Clark on Team USA for the Paris Olympics. However, the veteran head coach is humming an entirely different tune about the Fever superstar.

During a guest appearance on the "In Case You Missed It" podcast, Reeve called Clark a "future Hall of Famer." Although those are high-praising words, many WNBA fans are irritated with Reeve's switch up with the playoffs on the horizon.

Ultimately, many fans believe it's "too late" for Reeve to retract her previous statements. However, it's impressive that Clark's performance as a rookie has won the Lynx head coach completely over.

In August, Reeve even admitted she wished Clark, or Maya Moore, were playing for Minnesota in the Fever-Lynx game. She claimed, "I wish one was playing for us, either one." Despite that, WNBA fans aren't forgetting Reeve's criticism of Clark.

"Too late," said one fan .

Another fan claimed , "The backtrack arc is crazyyyy."

"Not falling for this.." says this fan who thinks it's a trap .

This fan doesn't believe Reeve whatsoever, stating, "Thats Staged PR to Boost Cheryl Reeve's image. She's not Sincere."

"I don't give 2 s**** what she has to say," admitted this fan using Reeve's previous statement against her.

Clark is the favorite to win the WNBA Rookie of the Year award as she's been dominant throughout the season. Heading into Friday's matchup against the Las Vegas Aces, Clark is averaging 19.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 8.4 assists per game while shooting 41.7 percent from the floor and 33.9 percent from beyond the arc.

Additionally, Clark is leading all rookies in points (708), assists (312), and steals (48). She's the all-time rookie leader in assists and broke the all-time rookie record in three-pointers made (88).

With three games remaining on the schedule, Clark can boost her numbers up and potentially break the all-time rookie scoring record (744 by Seimone Augustus in 2006) by the end of the season. Clark is 37 points away from breaking that record.
