Joel Klatt Trolls Colorado State Ahead of Week 3 Matchup Against Colorado

It has been nearly 20 years since Joel Klatt last suited up for the Colorado Buffaloes, but on Friday he made it clear that he still views the Colorado State Rams as rivals.

In a video that is now making its rounds on the internet, Klatt got to experience the best of both worlds while previewing the Week 3 slate for Fox Sports. He got an opportunity to gas up his Colorado Buffaloes, and also used that chance to throw some shade at the Rams in the process.

"By the way I just want to give a quick shoutout to Colorado State for being the backup school for everybody that got into Colorado," Klatt said before throwing on his sunglasses. "So you know what I'm saying fellas? I think that we're ready to go. Aren't we, Boulder?"

While Klatt is having some fun now, he is well aware of how important this game is for Deion Sanders and Colorado. Especially when you consider the fact that the Buffaloes haven't started the way they would have liked this season. They sit at 1-1 through two weeks and have many of the same issues last year's team had.

The team has already given up seven sacks through two games, is home to one of the worst run defenses in the country, and also ranks as the worst rushing offense in the country as well.

Following the 28-10 loss to Nebraska in Week 2, Klatt considers this year's edition of the "Rocky Mountain Showdown" the "biggest game" of Sanders' tenure as the head coach of the Buffaloes on a recent episode of the "Joel Klatt Show."

“Can we just pause for a moment and think about how big this game is for Colorado and Coach Prime?” Klatt said earlier this week. “This is, unequivocally, the biggest game that Colorado has had since Coach Prime has gotten there. Because they can not lose this game. If they lose this game, where do you go from here? This would be a sign of regression in the second year."

While most around the country may not view a win over a middle-of-the-pack Mountain West team as significant, Klatt and his alma mater know how detrimental a loss would be. Also, now that this statement from Klatt is out there in the world, he needs his Buffs to pull through even more.

The game is set to take place at 7:30 ET on Saturday, September 14, and will air on CBS.
