Zenless Zone Zero 1.2: New Area, Characters and More!

Hello, Proxies! Zenless Zone Zero dropped its new Version 1.2 Special Program, giving us a look at the new area "The Outer Rim," New Characters Ceasar and Burnice, and much more! I am here to round up all the info I can find out in the wilderness for you!

Let's dive into it, yeah? Or I guess as the Sons of Calydon would say "Let's Ride!"

Zenless Zone Zero's New Area

Us, Proxies will be able to go to a new area and experience a whole new locale known as the "Outer Rim." This Outer Rim is what is left of the original Eridu, it's an under-developed zone outside of New Eridu. It uses what the old civilization used, oil as a matter of fueling everything but they still use it as a trade source with New Eridu. Burnice mentioned that once the capital fell, people wandered out into the Outer Rim to get away and start a new life, along with some wanting to hide from PubSec, the in-game police force.

Biker Gangs rule the lands of the Outer Rim some of which have more control over others as they follow a sort of "chain of command." With the badest of the bad becoming an Overlord, just like one of the new characters but we will get to her in a second, in order to become the new Overlord they must pass a Cross-Hollow motor race known as - the Tour de Inferno. Fitting. The Overlord can decide trade routes and assume control of the motor gangs. They mention that it's all fair and square but with the story trailer presented beforehand, we can assume it's nothing more than fair.

The new area will bring new story missions and new events, one of which is where we get to drive a motorcycle with the gang. With the new area basically covered, let's dive into what the Proxies are here for, the characters!

Caesar King

Caesar King is an S-rank, Physical Defender, who wields a sword and shield in battle. SHE is the head of the Sons of Calydon, she is the leader of Burnice, Piper and Lucy. She is voiced by Jennifer Sun Bell as her English VA.

Caesar's abilities are as follows:

• Ex Special Attack: Parry Counter: If you block at the right moment, it will trigger a perfect block where you will end up parrying an attack, leaving your enemies wide open to a follow-up attack with the Special Attack or Ex-Special Attack.
• Additional Ability: Battle Spirit: This ability is passive and is triggered when there is a squad member that is capable of triggering a Defensive Assist or that belongs to the same faction: When she triggers a perfect block she can debuff the enemies to take more damage from her squad mates!
• Core Passive: Barrier of Resilience: While this shield is in effect, the shield bearer's Anti-Interrupt Level and ATK are increased.
• Ultimate: Savage Smash: Caesar will launch herself forward, charging in the Overlord's stance, using several crown control methods to get the battlefield under HER reign.

Brunice White

Burnice White is an S-rank, Fire Anomaly Agent, she wields two flamethrowers, Mixer and Shaker. She is Sons of Calydon's mixologist as she runs the underground drink operations. She is voiced by Risa Mei.

Burnice's abilities are as follows:

• Ex Special Attack: Intense Heat Stirring Method - Burnice will alternate her flamethrowers to deal with constant Fire Anomaly damage and build up her Heat.
• Ex Special Attack: Intense Heat Stirring Method - Double Shot - Burnice will use BOTH her flamethrowers to deal a short burst of Fire damage and Anomaly Buildup.
• Core Passice: Nitro-Fuel Cocktail - While in the Nitro-Fuel Cocktail state, some of Burnice's Skills inflict the Scorched effect on enemies she hits. When squadmates attack enemies afflicted with the Scorched effect, Afterburn will trigger, dealing extra Fire damage. In order to get to this state, Burnice will have to stack up Heat by burning up enemies with her attacks. While Afterburn is on the field, once enough enemies are burning, Burnice can hop off the field allowing other agents to deal damage while her burn damage continues to tick!
• Ultimate: Glorious Inferno - Her ultimate allows her to hop into the air with the momentum of her flamethrowers allowing her stacks to build faster and commit to the Afterburn effects.

Burnice's Agent Story will also be available once Proxies reach the requirements. Caesar and Burnice will arrive in the new Signal Search banner. Caesar and her S-rank W-Engine, Tusks of Fury will be in Phase 1, and Burnice will be in Phase 2 with her W-Engine, Flamemaker Shaker (Which is good, it gives me a chance to save up for Burnice...) Along with the two ladies, a new Bangboo will drop as well: Red Moccus.

Events, Events, Events!

Overlord's Feast

"Heros set the wasteland ablaze, the following fiery feast won't fail to amaze. All great adventure stories end in an old tavern..."

In this event, we will be helping the mayor set up a feast in a commission. We will be serving and helping guests prepare food all the while learning some stories of the Sons of Calydon.

Rewards are as follows: Denny, Upgrade Mats, Polychrome, AND A-Rank Lucy will be recruitable for FREE.

Bizarre Brigade

"An unlucky soul in a dangerous wonderland. At home, you can only count on yourself, but on the road, you can trust your companions."

A new game will be added to Aisha's Arcade, allowing a sort of bullet-hell, Rouge-like game for us to play where we can collect companions and fight through waves of enemies.

Rewards will be as follows: Polychrome, Bopoons, and Physical and Fire upgrade Mats as well as Experience Mats for the Agents and Bangboos.

Roaming the Either

"A gift from the Cunning Hares - Precious data from the Hollow Zero and... viruses? It's time for a journey into the world of electronic Ether!"

In this event we will be getting a vintage computer from the old civilization from the Cunning Hares, we will be doing a sort of Flappy Bird style of dogging things to collect what seems to be data.

Rewards are as follows: Upgrade Mats, Polychrome, and Disk Mats to synthesize Disks at the music store.

Ridu For You

"Subscribe to "The Ridu Tour" Now! Purchase to get a "Silhouette" series puzzle! - May the silhouettes of the city embellish your life"

We return to New Eirdu to speak to the best of boys at the newsstand. We will be solving puzzles to unlock stories and more info about the Outer Rim.

Rewards: Polychrome, Bopoons, and Experience Mats as well as a Namecard background.

141 Friendship fair

Sjal will be returning to once again allow us to offer her items in return for other items.

Rewards: Polychrome, Upgrade Mats and Dennys

Phantom Hunt

"Rain has a batch of difficult Commissions for Phaethon... However. the figure that appears in the Hollow seems familiar... who could it be?"

Rain appears once again to give us some difficult commission with some old friends...

Rewards: Polychrome and Several Mats.

Along with the new Events: Combat Simulation, Routine Clean-up, and Ambush Node will be giving double drops for Proxies.

Investigator Training Course

This will be a new Event/System coming out where we will get to learn how to be a Hollow Investigator. Each mission will be tailored to certain characters with different buffs where you use agents you don't own yet to try them out! The interesting part is they also said we can assign agents to undergo tactical exercises... to gain experience? So from what it sounds like we will be able to send low-ranking agents in to level them up? That is a dream to me! This will allow us to take them in and keep them up to date with the rest of our team! Good thing for what's coming up in the Quality of Life updates...

There will be programs for collecting 10 Master Tapes and 10 Boopons over a 7-day login.

New Drive Disc Series

Chaos Jazz will be one new set, with a 2-piece set giving agents an Anomaly Proficiency of +30, and a 4 Piece set: Fire DMG and Electric DMG is increased by 15% When off-field, DMG dealt by EX Special Attack and Assist Attacks are increased by 20% When the character switches back onto the field, this buff continues for 5s. The lasting effect can be triggered once every 7.5s.

Proto Punk will be the next set. The 2-piece will have: Shield Effect + 15% and the 4-piece will have: When any squad member triggers a Defensive Assist or Evasive Assist, all squad members deal 15% increased DMG, lasting 10s. Passive Effects of the same name do not stack.

Hollow Zero Updates

They are removing the level cap for it, so once you complete the pre-requisite missions you will unlock Hollow Zero. They also made it to where now you can jump straight into the action without having to use the TV navigation system. While it is fun at times, I do like this update personally as there are times I just want to go in and kill things and get out. They will be adding some buff and nerfs in terms of optional conditions to get a higher score, still keeping its rouge-like features.

That being said, they are streamlining the TV system making it faster and easier to go through the dialogue.

Quality of Life

Last but not least, Quality of Life updates!

• Backup Battery Charge - Now if you are idle and haven't touched the game in a while, you will build up battery charge to use in farming later, there is no known limit but safe to assume it's a lot.
• Squad Loadouts - You can now save up to 10 load-outs of squad members so you can pick and choose who you want to bring to a commission without having to pick and choose all the time, thank god now I can load up Jane in 8 different loadouts.
• Free-roam Agents - In Zenless Zone Zero 1.2 Proxies will be able to switch between Wise and Bell, Casear, and Burnice to walk around and experience the Outer Rim with new eyes, or feet in this case.
• Clock advancing -After a certain point in the story, in 1.2 Proxies will be able to change their time freely and not have to rest or play commissions in order to progress time, they can choose any time they want and it will load it.

That will be a majority of what was to be taken away from the 1.2 update, what are you excited about? I personally can't wait for Burnice to drop, and to take these new Quality of life updates. Good luck Proxies! See you in the next one!
