Mitchell Wiggins passed away on Friday, his family announced. The details of his death were not revealed. Golden State Warriors wing Andrew Wiggins is the son of the late Mitchell. Mitchell played six seasons in the NBA from the 1983-84 campaign to 1991. The North Carolina native played for three teams: four seasons with the Houston Rockets, one with the Chicago Bulls, and one with the Philadelphia 76ers.

According to The Athletic's Shams Charania's report from Apr. 3, 2023, the NBA insider reported that Mitchell "has been dealing with a serious injury," which revealed why Andrew played only 37 games for the 2022-23 season.

While Andrew dealt with a painful family medical emergency, the Warriors refused to inform the media as to why their starting forward continued to miss games due to "personal reasons."

Naturally, many speculated as to why Andrew wasn't playing. The Warriors, however, respectfully chose to keep such a delicate situation under wraps out of respect for Andrew and his family.

Andrew's sister, "Angey" Wiggins, posted a picture on Instagram to announce her father's passing and offer a heartfelt goodbye.

"Rest easy. You'll forever be missed. I love you forever, Daddy," Angey posted on Instagram.
