Fever Guard Caitlin Clark Sets WNBA Assist Record During First Half Against Aces

Fever guard Caitlin Clark made WNBA history on Friday night.

The Rookie of the Year frontrunner set the league's single-season record for assists (317) against the Aces with her fifth of the evening.

Clark recorded the assist on a dish to guard Kelsey Mitchell to break Sun forward Alyssa Thomas' record she set last season. The bucket pulled Indiana within three of Las Vegas, 30-27.

The assist record continues Clark's sensational year — in the NCAA and WNBA.

In March, she set the NCAA all-time scoring record, passing former LSU great Pete Maravich. She finished her collegiate career with 3,951 points and consecutive trips to the NCAA national championship game.

Clark's remarkable 2024 continued after being selected No. 1 overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft.

She recorded the first rookie triple-double on July 6 and the most assists in a game (19) on July 17.

Clark also holds the rookie record for three-pointers (111) in a single season.

The Fever (19-18) went from having the league's third-worst record in 2023 (13-27) to likely being the sixth seed in the 2024 WNBA playoffs.

The 2024 WNBA playoffs begin on Sept. 22. The Fever's current projected first-round opponent is the Connecticut Sun.
