According to TMZ , the man in the viral photo was collecting two geese that had been struck by a car in Columbus, Ohio. Columbus is approximately 45 minutes away from Springfield, where Trump made his claims.  The wildlife organization explained that usually people need documentation from a county sheriff or wildlife officer to collect a carcass but,the Franklin County Wildlife Office confirmed that no such paperwork is required for geese. In this case, the man had the right to have them.

Additionally, there was no evidence that confirmed that the man is an immigrant, Haitian, or intended to eat the geese. Officials say the story is being exaggerated due to Trump’s recent remarks and his supporters pushing the narrative online. Additionally, officials see no issue with the situation, noting that dealing with geese is common practice.
