Tom Brady Predicted to Join Dolphins as Tua Tagovailoa’s Replacement

Tua Tagovailoa's NFL future is uncertain after sustaining another concerning concussion during Thursday night's game against the Buffalo Bills.

The Dolphins' Pro Bowl quarterback left in the third quarter after taking a hit to the head and did not return. Tagovailoa has suffered multiple concussions during his NFL career and calls grew after the game for the former Alabama standout to retire.

It's devastating for Tagovailoa and the Dolphins, who signed him to a four-year, $212.4 million contract extension this offseason, locking him in as their franchise quarterback.

Tagovailoa may not step away from the game but will undoubtedly miss some time. Skylar Thompson is next on the depth chart, but he has attempted just 119 passes in his career.

Miami has a contender-worthy roster and former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Devlin "Duck" Hodges believes Tom Brady will step in to save the day for the Dolphins.

"Tom Brady to the Miami Dolphins… heard it here first," Hodges said on X. "Watch."

Brady's former teammate, Jermaine Wiggins, also theorized about the seven-time Super Bowl champ coming out of retirement to join the Dolphins.

“Let’s just say he did, and he went to Miami. Team’s in his backyard, doesn’t have to travel, doesn’t have to go away to the West Coast," Wiggins said on The Greg Hill Show . "They have an unbelievable offense . They have the most dominant skill player in the NFL in Tyreek Hill."

It's not the first time Brady has been linked to the Dolphins, who were punished for "impermissible contact" with the former MVP in 2022.

Brady has also discussed the idea of coming out of retirement to play for the Dolphins as recently as 2023.

"I will say, now that I’m not affiliated with any team anymore, and even though I have strong ties with a couple teams, I do have some friends on the Dolphins that I really like," Brady said . "So, I wouldn’t say I necessarily root for them all the time, but I root for my friends to do well, and several of them play for Miami."

Brady last played in 2022 and currently occupies a spot in the broadcast booth with Fox.
