Good morning everyone. The Northeast continues its quiet and comfortable winning streak as sunshine and near 80 degree temps remain locked in place. We stay mostly sunny until Tuesday, where increasing clouds ahead of our low pressure system in the Mid-Atlantic may bring some rain for Wednesday.

They won't see what's in store for North Carolina, South Carolina, and parts of Virginia as far as heavy rain, gail force/tropical storm force winds, or any severe weather component that will begin to impact the area Monday - Wednesday; but scattered moderate rain and gusty winds will be a possibility.

Today's heavy showers and thunderstorms across coastal North & South Carolina are the precursor for this week's possible tropical action. Energy left over from Francine will continue to slowly transfer to coast with the help of an old stationary front, then spin off a wave of low pressure that could develop some tropical characteristsics.

Whether it does or doesn't, gale force winds are likely along the coast; as well as rough surf, coastal flooding, and beach erosion. Waterspouts will also be a risk, as well as possible severe weather for inland sections.

Tropical remnants continue to cause issues in parts of Alabama, Georgia, and Tennesse, with flooding rain and embedded heavy showers and storms. While severe weather isn't likely, we could still see some locally strong winds, frequent lightning, and torrential rain.

Florida is also at mercy of remnant tropical energy, with a new line of heavy showers and storms coming ashore this morning. Look for scattered heavy showers and storms, on & off throughout the day. Some of these storms could be capable of locally severe weather, with damaging winds, frequent lightning, torrential rain, hail, and the possibility of a few waterspouts.
