Gaining titles like Uncle Ted, The Nuge, and Motor City Madman, Ted Nugent gained stardom thanks to his guitar skills and energetic concerts. But outside of the studio, Nugent is extremely outspoken when it comes to his beliefs about religion and politics. Although two hot topics that many celebrities tend to run from, Nugent appeared to welcome the conversation, refusing to apologize for his thoughts or beliefs. And recently, the singer took aim at Pearl Jam after the band used his song “Stranglehold” as an anthem for gun violence.

On September 12th, Pearl Jam traveled to Maryland for a concert at the CFG Bank Arena. During the concert, Pearl Jam decided to play “Stranglehold”, but singer Eddie Vedder repeated the lyrics, “I don’t own a gun/ I never wanna own a gun.” After the performance, Pearl Jam made headlines for their decision over the song. And eventually finding its way to Nugent, the singer shared his thoughts about the rock band.

Pointing to Vedder himself, Nugent wrote on Twitter, “Hey Eddie join me on my RAV spirit campfire to discuss how your insane liberal policies have created an explosion in engineered violent recidivism while you fight to disarm helpless innocent citizens.”

Nugent fans rallied around the singer, filling the comment section with support. “Eddie and Pearl Jam are talented musicians. It’s sad they would disrespect your music because you have your own beliefs. The fact that they all are playing it shows how kickass your music is! They should write their own songs if they want to make a statement.”

Over the years, Nugent has made his stance on politics and the Second Amendment extremely clear. Once discussing gun control, the singer declared, “I have the right from God, as outlined in the Second Amendment, to keep and bear — not keep in case, not keep in lock, not keep in truck — to keep and bear arms on my person on planet earth while I am alive.”

Besides sharing his thoughts on the current climate in the United States, Nugent continues to release new music. Back in 2022, he released his newest album Detroit Muscle, which received a great deal of praise from fans.
