Background: Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office vehicle (PBSO). Inset: Margaret Gissome (PBSO).

A Florida woman allegedly grabbed a girl by the collar and punched her repeatedly in the face — all because she made mistakes on her homework.

Margaret Gissome, 35, is accused of repeatedly striking the girl on Sept. 10. According to a probable cause affidavit reviewed by Law&Crime, Gissome “became upset because [victim] was doing her homework wrong” after school that day.

Gissome allegedly “grabbed [victim] by her collar and started punching [victim] in her face,” the affidavit says. The victim suffered a “busted blood vessel in her left eye” as well as a “bruise on her lower left lip,” according to the report.

The victim told investigators that Gissome hits her “a lot.” In this particular alleged incident, the victim and her siblings were doing homework when Gissome “became upset due to [victim] giving her the wrong answer to her homework.”

Gissome grabbed the victim “by the shirt collar and started shaking her, and with a closed fist started striking her face with the same hand,” the affidavit says. After another alleged closed-fist punch to the mouth, Gissome allegedly threatened further violence, telling the victim “not to worry about your lip because your nose will be next.”

Shortly after that, Gissome allegedly punched the girl in the chest.

Gissome is now facing felony child abuse charges, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. The affidavit did not reveal the relationship between Gissome and the child.

Jail records show that Gissome was booked into jail on Wednesday and released from custody on Friday after posting $2,500 bond.

They should have kept her locked up! Hopefully she goes to prison for a LONG TIME. Unfortunately, that sweet little girl may need therapy.
