Scrappy Doo is Graduating from Training Camp

Pet of the Week for September 14, 2024

Once upon a time a dog named Scrappy Doo had lived at Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter for more than a year . The super-cute, floppy-eared guy with freckles on his nose was an affable high-energy guy. But despite how much the volunteers and staff cared for him and worked with him, shelter life was taking a toll. He was almost always overstimulated, and was becoming more jumpy and harder to handle.

FAAS knew they had to do something that would give Scrappy a fighting chance. So they dug into their Sasha Training Fund and sent him to doggie camp where he would receive specialized training in a farm setting.

Once out of the shelter, the two-year-old’s real personality started emerging, like a seedling reaching through the soil for the sun after a long winter. He blossomed. Scrappy became a happy guy, and a much more relaxed version of his previous self. He’s still an energetic boy, but his sweeter and charming self has taken root. The difference is like night and day.

See for yourself. Here’s how the head of the doggie camp describes Scrappy:

“He’s a little shy in the beginning and needs a few minutes to warm up. He’s smart, food-motivated, likes the water, and knows basic commands. He could live with a female dog that was size-appropriate. No cats or kids under 12 years old. He’s medium energy, crate-trained and easy to live with.”

To arrange a meeting with this adorable and very good young dog , please call FAAS at (510) 337-8565. He truly deserves a happily ever after!
