Firefighters Rescue Tiny Baby Marmoset from Forest Fire in Brazil

Firefighters in Brazil rescued a baby Marmoset trapped in the area where forest fires raged in Pau Furado State Park.

On September 13, 2024, ABC News shared a video of a tiny baby Marmoset in the hands of one of the Firefighters who rescued this sweet monkey. Take a look!

On TikTok , ABC News (@abcnews) shared a 27-second video of the rescued Marmoset , and people were so thankful the baby was saved.

The video's title reads, "Brazilian firefighters rescue baby Marmoset from a forest fire. " In the clip, a firefighter gently holds the small monkey and does what they can to help the baby feel better.

The small baby has the cutest chirps, which prompts the firefighter to bring the Marmoset a little closer to see if that helps.

Next, the little one had some water that the firefighters placed in a small bottle cap and helped up while the Marmoset took a few licks.

Interesting Facts About the Marmoset

Marmosets are small monkeys and there are a several different species, but nearly all of them are small enough to fit in our hands, according to Life Science.

"Marmosets have soft and silky hair, and many have tufts of hair or manes on either side of their faces, which are sparsely furred or naked, according to Live Science. "There is a wide variety of colors among marmosets, from black to brown to silver to bright orange."

These cuties are similar to squirrels in that they like to stay up in the trees. Their long tails primarily help with balance.

The site explains that marmosets almost always give birth to twins. The timeframe for a Marmoset pregnancy is around four to six months, and the male marmosets are very involved in caring for their baby.
