SHENANDOAH COUNTY, Va. – The Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) was tasked with investigating three school threats this week.

According to a media release from the SCSO, the first two incidents occurred September 11, 2024.

The first involved a 15-year-old Strasburg female. A Snapchat post, allegedly made by the teen, hinted at school violence and threats. The post was then distributed to other students.

According to the media release, this juvenile has been charged with:

18.2-83: Threats to bomb or damage buildings or means of transportation; false information as to danger to such buildings, etc.

18.2-60: Threats of death or bodily injury to a person or member of his family; threats of death or bodily injury to persons on school property; threats of death or bodily injury to health care providers; penalty.

The second incident involved a 16-year-old Strasburg male. While riding the morning school bus, the teen allegedly made verbal threats related to school violence. Upon hearing the threats, other students reported the incident to Shenandoah County school officials and the SCSO.

According to the media release, this juvenile was charged with:

18.2-83: Threats to bomb or damage buildings or means of transportation; false information as to danger to such buildings, etc.

Both teens were taken into custody and transported to Juvenile Intake in Woodstock, where they awaited scheduled detention hearings.

On Friday, September 13, 2024, the SCSO responded to a third school threat.

According to a separate SCSO media release, this incident involved a written threat by a suspected 14 year old male from Fort Valley.

    This juvenile was charged with:

18.2-83: Threats to bomb or damage buildings or means of transportation; false information as to danger to such buildings, etc.

18.2-60: Threats of death or bodily injury to a person or member of his family; threats of death or bodily injury to persons on school property; threats of death or bodily injury to health care providers; penalty.

As with the first two cases, the third individual was transported to a juvenile detention center where he awaited a detention hearing, according to the release.
