Clemson’s in-state rival is dealing with an injury to its starting signal-caller.

South Carolina’s starting quarterback suffered an injury in Saturday’s game vs. No. 16 LSU.

Gamecocks starting quarterback LaNorris Sellers left the game right before halftime with an ankle injury. He limped to the locker room after being sacked in the waning seconds of the half.

ABC’s Holly Rowe reported before the second half began that Sellers’ ankle was heavily taped and he was limping, with Rowe saying that Sellers was “going to try to play” but the Gamecocks were “just not sure how much he can do.”

Sellers, who ran for two touchdowns, was on the bench to start the second half due to the injury.

South Carolina began the second half with senior Robby Ashford at quarterback, then Sellers came back in for the Gamecocks’ second series before Ashford took the field again on the following possession and played the rest of the game.

South Carolina (2-1) came out on the wrong end of a wild affair in Columbia, falling 36-33 to LSU when the Gamecocks missed a game-tying field goal try as time expired.

Clemson and South Carolina will meet on Nov. 30 in Death Valley for the 121st installment of the arch rivalry. Clemson is 73-43-4 all-time against South Carolina and has won eight of the series’ last nine games, including last year’s 16-7 win in Columbia.
