Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James made one thing clear to his son Bronny amid the criticisms of nepotism surrounding his selection as the 55th overall pick in this year's draft.

"We already laid that down, " James said on "The Shop" in August. "He cannot call me dad in the workplace. Once we leave out of the practice facility and the gates close, I can be Dad again in the car if we ride together.

We cannot be running down the court, and he's like ‘Dad, push the ball up!' or ‘Dad, I'm open, Dad!' No, you cannot do that," James said.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times on September 13, Lakers owner Jeanie Buss agreed with James' sentiment, referencing her own relationship with the late Dr. Jerry Buss at the workplace.

"You know, I never had that conversation with LeBron or Bronny, but in business situations, I addressed my father as Dr. Buss," Jeanie told the LA Times . "I wanted to keep that boundary clear because that helped us out — we weren’t bringing work home to the dinner table.

So I think LeBron and Bronny are very prepared for this. And I’m excited just for them to have this opportunity. But Bronny is a good player. I’m excited to see what our new coach, JJ Redick, has in store. It’s definitely gonna be an interesting season for sure."

James said Bronny can call him "2-3," "Bron" or even "GOAT."

"It's up to him," he said on "The Shop."

LeBron and Bronny are set to make history as the NBA’s first active father and son duo which has only happened in other major American sports leagues such as Ken Griffey Sr. and Jr. in baseball and Gordie Howe and sons in hockey.
