Jalen Milroe came onto the scene in a big way in 2023, earning Heisman votes while sweeping opposition defenders aside en route to a College Football Playoff appearance with Alabama.

2024 could very well represent an encore for the sophomore, who reaffirmed his status as one of college football's greatest showmen with an eye-catching showcase against Wisconsin on Saturday.

Milroe overwhelmed the Badgers' weary defense, spearheading the Crimson Tide's offense during a 42-10 wipeout. He accounted for five touchdowns, giving him 14 on the young season. His brilliance not only proved a constant nuisance to his adversaries. It also vaulted his name up the charts in terms of Heisman candidacy.

Here's a closer look at Milroe's career day at Camp Randall Stadium.

    Jalen Milroe stats today

Milroe was wondrous in the Crimson Tide's clash with the Badgers, recording 271 yards of total offense (196 passing, 75 rushing) and accounting for five of Alabama's six touchdowns on the day.

Three of Milroe's five scores came through the air, including highlight-reel 31- and 37-yard tosses to Ryan Williams and Josh Cuevas, respectively. The other two touchdowns sprang from Milroe's running prowess.

Milroe left a pile of markers in his wake when he carried the ball upstream. Some took to the turf in response to Milroe's magical feet, while others fell to the canvas in a mighty heap, unable to keep upright after the 6-2, 225-pound titan barreled through them.

Milroe even made sparks fly once he landed in the end zone; he paid tribute to the late, Atlanta-based rapper Rich Homie Quan once more,

Either way you slice it, Saturday's outing was an epic one for the 21-year old. Milroe put the rest of the college football world — and more specifically, his fellow Heisman contenders — on notice.

The likes of Quinn Ewers, Cam Ward, Carson Beck and Ashton Jeanty all have made compelling cases for college football's greatest prize through the opening few weeks of the college football season. As far as hurlers go, few can offer what Milroe does. Not only is the Alabama QB blessed with trebuchet-like arm strength. Milroe also can run like a gazelle; he had 531 yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground last year and figures to eclipse those totals in 2024.

All that could amount to an even better showing in Heisman voting.
